"Francis and Kathleen Broadbery opened this stylish little restaurant in Union Hall village in the spring of 1998. It's a pleasant room, with interesting slightly crafty furniture, fresh flowers, good tablewear and a welcoming open fire on a chilly day. Menus offer a mixture of simple dishes highlighting the goodness of local and organic produce, especially seafood, and lively Mediterranean/global cuisine style dishes which are competently cooked and well presented. Service is charming and helpful and there's a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

"One of the finest meals we've had in a while."
-Netherlands

"In the year since it has opened (The Baybery) has fast become a meeting place for locals and on any given night you might walk in to find the place full of your friends and neighbors...

you'd be as likely to see cosy couples dressed 'to-the-nines', as families with children in tow devouring gourmet pizzas...

The menu is reasonably priced and offers good value for your money."

"West Cork's Hidden Treasure!"

"Our dinners at the Baybery are one of the can't-miss highlights of our visits to Ireland and to West Cork. We've brought friends along several times and their reaction is the same as ours: The Baybery will give you an evening you will not easily forget. You'll find the menu full of culinary delights to explore.

Time seems to stop as you enjoy the candle-lit warmth and casual elegance of The Baybery. Francis and Kathleen have created a gem, tucked away in the heart of West Cork. You don't want to miss discovering this gem for yourself!"

Dear Kathleen,
I love the Baybery it's fantastic. And I love the plants and Xmas lights. Thank you for the pasta, it's my favorite kind of pasta, and I haven't had it for years.
From,
Kate

Union at Bay

In the place of vibrancy
A union displays itself as prominent
As the sea, as Baybery and lamb,
As sacrilegious as ice in an Italian
Red wine
It is here in Ireland where soul
Means simplicity
Where life is at an assemblance
Of rest for the weary.

-Robbin A. Martinelli,
Poet

Since we've opened The Baybery we've had a great many generous complements, letters and e-mails from visitors to the restaurant. We consider the Baybery an extension of our home and we hope that when you leave the restaurant, you carry with you a sense of well being that comes from having been well cared for and knowing that there is always a welcome for you here, when your journeys lead you safely back to our little corner of the world.

Thank you for all your support and encouragement.

Sincerely yours,
Francis & Kathleen
